Magnetite : Fe2+Fe3+2O4

Large single crystal of octahedral magnetite with minor matrix. The crystal surfaces is composed of many parallel crystal faces resulting in a stepped surface. No damage. Overall size of mineral specimen: 25x24x22 mm. Size of individual crystals: 22 mm.

Alternating bands of Magnetite in Tremolite-Actinolite Matrix. Collected from the spoils of this underground ore deposit. Much of the magnetite in the spoils is massive and layered with matrix. Specimen is 3 inches in the horizontal. Collected by Mark J. Sigouin in 2006.
