Chloritoid : (Fe2+,Mg,Mn2+)Al2[O|(OH)2|SiO4]

Konar (Kunar; Konarh; Konarha; Nuristan) Province, Afghanistan

6.3 x 3.5 x 3.0 cm. An unusually displayable chloritoid cluster in that it is on matrix (contrasting matrix at that!), and has multiple crystals (to 3 cm) instead of the usual broken single crystal one so often sees. Darra-i-Pech (Darra-e-Pech) Pegmatite Field, Nangarhar (Ningarhar) Province, Afghanistan

4.1 x 2.5 cm.

An extremely fine lustrous, xl plate consisting of several flat individuals. Under very strong illumination and on the thinnest edges the material is seen to be an extremely dark green color.
