Limecrest Quarry, Sparta Township, Sussex Co., New Jersey, USA An excellent specimen of deep blue corundum with crystals up to 10mm embedded in franklin marble. Although many of the crystals are incomplete, those that are are quite gemmy. Minor phlogopite and tremolite (on the reverse) are also present. Self collected 2007. Overall specimen size 12X6X3cm. Photographed under artificial light. |

Limecrest Quarry, Sparta Township, Sussex Co., New Jersey, USA This specimen consists of a complex single Sapphire crystal associated with a small amount of Calcite, minor Chalcopyrite, Phlogopite, and Graphite. The Sapphire crystal has sharp, complex faces and great blue color. Good Sapphire crystals from New Jersey are quite scarce indeed. Specimen size is 3.23cm x 2.23cm x 1.15cm. |
