Limecrest Quarry, Sparta Township, Sussex Co., New Jersey, USA Blue crystal of corundum with minor matrix attached. The bottom end was broken, but the top still has matrix indicating it is terminated. Collected in June, 1967. Ex. A. Stevenson collection #191a. Overall size of mineral specimen: 25x15x10 mm. Size of individual crystals: 20 mm. |

Limecrest Quarry, Sparta Township, Sussex Co., New Jersey, USA An excellent specimen of deep blue corundum with crystals up to 10mm embedded in franklin marble. Although many of the crystals are incomplete, those that are are quite gemmy. Minor phlogopite and tremolite (on the reverse) are also present. Self collected 2007. Overall specimen size 12X6X3cm. Photographed under artificial light. |

Limecrest Quarry, Sparta Township, Sussex Co., New Jersey, USA Corundum var. Saphire crystals etched from calcite. The larger crystal is 4cm long and the shorter one is 3cm long. This specimen is from the late Neil Wintrigham collection. |

Limecrest Quarry, Sparta Township, Sussex Co., New Jersey, USA This specimen consists of a complex single Sapphire crystal associated with a small amount of Calcite, minor Chalcopyrite, Phlogopite, and Graphite. The Sapphire crystal has sharp, complex faces and great blue color. Good Sapphire crystals from New Jersey are quite scarce indeed. Specimen size is 3.23cm x 2.23cm x 1.15cm. |
