Beautiful hand specimen of crystalline Covellite from (BHP) Broken Hill, NSW, Australia. Specimen is 70mm in length with crystals up to 1cm at widest point.
Was collected by New Zealander B Hendry late 1940's. CF Johnson Collection.

Wolfram Mine, Pittong, Ballarat, Victoria, Australia

Tiny pale yellow crystals of sulphur on a deep blue layer of covellite. Photograph taken in 2004. Five years later, the greater part of each sulphur crystal has vanished and only a little of each remains, almost unrecognisable. Field of view: 1.7mm.

Cap Garonne Mine, Pradet, Var, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France

The Cap-Garonne mine is a sub-horizontal detritic vein. Cooper & lead minerals re-mineralisated in a sandstone. it is limited on the estern side by a subvertical vein, about 20cm large, mainly mineralisated by massive barite, with some galena. this pièce comes from the junction of both veins.
