This is a rich cluster of jackstraw crocoite crystals, almost solid crystal in fact, with many of them quite large (to 4 cm!) and with fine orange/red flash! Dundas mineral field, Zeehan district, Tasmania, Australia So many crocoites are just jumbly, matrixy specimens – it is exceptional to find elegant floater clusters such as this. In person, the color is less red and more orange (a superb bright reddish orange!) than the pics show – it is a hard color for the camera to capture.
