Morro Velho mine (incl. Mina Velha; Mina Grande), Nova Lima, Iron Quadrangle, Minas Gerais, Southeast Region, Brazil

Colorles, translucent dolomite crystals up to 20 mm with overgrowth of scattered cubanite and pyrrhotite crystals up to 3 mm. All crystals are undamaged. Overall size of mineral specimen: 8x6x3 cm. Size of individual crystals: 1-20 mm.

Thin tabular 2.3 mm long crystal on Siderite. The face of the crystal facing the camera is lit obliquely exposing a “rough” surface. From other light angles the same face appears smooth and lustrous. Robert O. Meyer specimen and photograph.
