May Downs Station, Mount Isa district, Mt Isa - Cloncurry area, Queensland, Australia

4.9 x 3.9 x 3.5 cm. A wonderfully formed crystal of dark "dravite" tourmaline from Australia, from the notable California collection of Charles Hansen. Dravite : [Na][Mg3][Al6][(OH)3|OH|(BO3)3|Si6O18]

May Downs Station, Mount Isa district, Mt Isa - Cloncurry area, Queensland, Australia

8.4 x 8.4 x 6.2 cm. A wonderfully formed pair of dravite crystals composed of smaller, complex, interpenetrating crystals from Australia. The lustrous, blocky, black crystals look just like columnar basalt. Complete-all-around with only modest contacting on one end. A classic example for the locality.
