Ekanite : (Ca,Fe2+,Pb)2(Th,U)[Si8O20], Quartz : SiO2

Darai-Pioz (Dara-i-Pioz; Dara-Pioz) Glacier, Alai (Alayskiy) Range, Tien Shan Mts, Region of Republican Subordination, Tajikistan

A 7 mm crystal of ekanite, confirmed by PXRD method. It's semi-quantitative EDS analysis showed Ca, Th, U, Si, O and only traces of other elements. One of the specimens found during Warsaw University student's journey to Tajikistan (2004), kindly supported by the University and The Explorer's Club (N.Y.), guided by Tomasz Segit.
