Elbaite : [Na][(Li,Al)3][Al6][(OH)3|OH|(BO3)3|Si6O18], Quartz : SiO2

Konar (Kunar; Konarh; Konarha; Nuristan) Province, Afghanistan

This gloriously colorful specimen is complete ALL around. It features a fat, juicy tourmaline measuring 8.5 x 3 x 3 at the base and 3.5 x 3.5 near the more splayed termination (i.e. it gets wider at the top). Note the VERY UNUSUAL hints of blue color at the termination, which is VERY uncommon for a Paprok piece. IN person, its quite evident and a ...

A VERY sharp, exquisite crysatl cluster showing unusual gemminess and exceptional transparency. A lot of superlatives I know, but its a very choice little tourmie! 7.5 x 1.4 x 1.1 cm

Konar (Kunar; Konarh; Konarha; Nuristan) Province, Afghanistan

An exquisite, gemmy, pristine tourmaline of classic multicolored hues for the location. This color scheme is riveting, and it displays phenomenally in a showcase. It is so gemmy that you need very little, if any, backlighting to show it. 7.9 x 1.3 x 1.3 cm

Elbaite : [Na][(Li,Al)3][Al6][(OH)3|OH|(BO3)3|Si6O18]

Konar (Kunar; Konarh; Konarha; Nuristan) Province, Afghanistan

A fine double-crystal of tourmaline, gemmy from top to bottom, and nicely terminated on top! This crystal shows the clarity for which Paprok is famous. This superb gem crystal weighs 5 grams. Truly exceptional in quality, this is the kind of level we all strive to acquire, and the extra 10% in clarity, color, and glassiness pays off in the long ...

Elbaite : [Na][(Li,Al)3][Al6][(OH)3|OH|(BO3)3|Si6O18]

Konar (Kunar; Konarh; Konarha; Nuristan) Province, Afghanistan

WOW! This is one of the truly great afghani tourmaline styles, to me, because it has the best glassy lustre on the sides AND on the termination. Such specimens are much more uncommon than their counterparts with more dull terminations. Undamaged, complete all around, and very gemmy and colorful even with minimal backlighting. 6 x 3 x 2.6 cm

Plate of albite and quartz completely covered on the face with pink elbaite tourmalines (var. Rubellite). All of the elbaite crystals have shallow, pyramidal terminations and have good surface luster. No damage. From my personal collection. Overall size of mineral specimen: 9x8x3 cm. Size of individual crystals: 5-30 mm.
