Vanadinite (Var: Arsenatian Vanadinite) : Pb5[(V,As)O4]3Cl, Quartz : SiO2

Los Lamentos Mts (Sierra de Los Lamentos), Mun. de Ahumada, Chihuahua, Mexico

Look at this bizarre Los Lamentos vanadinite specimen, with crystals growing on the tips of a cluster of quartz crystals! Notice how the vanadinites from here have the exact form of pyromorphites. OLD MATERIAL! 6.1 x 4.7 x 4.0cm

Erupción Mine (Ahumada Mine; Erupción-Ahumada Mine), Los Lamentos Mts (Sierra de Los Lamentos), Mun. de Ahumada, Chihuahua, Mexico

Many elongated, brown vanadinite crystals in diverging, spray-like formations. The crystals taper to flat terminations. Endlichite is now called arsentian vanadinite. Overall size of mineral specimen: 7x4x4 cm. Size of individual crystals: 2-8 mm.

Erupción Mine (Ahumada Mine; Erupción-Ahumada Mine), Los Lamentos Mts (Sierra de Los Lamentos), Mun. de Ahumada, Chihuahua, Mexico

Superb specimen of brown arsentian vanadinite (variety endlichite) pseudomorphs after wulfenite crystals up to 16 mm across. This specimen is not simply encrustation , but is vanadinite all the way through - rare. No damage. Overall size of mineral specimen: 11x5x2 cm. Size of individual crystals: 5016 mm.
