Erionite

Laidley Creek, Gatton Valley, Queensland, Australia

An isolated erionite crystal with an unusually simple hexagonal form. Many of the crystals from Laidley Creek show complex fibrous intergrowths. Others manifest odd telescoping multiple terminations. Collected by Brian Carney. Photomicrograph © Saul Krotki 2006 (.0673.1). Field of view 0.8 mm wide. Krotki Micromount Collection.

Erionite

Laidley Creek, Gatton Valley, Queensland, Australia

Telescoping multi-termination typical of numerous Laidley Creek erionites. Microprobe examination reveals a compact fibrous structure. Collected by Brian Carney. Photomicrograph © Saul Krotki 2006 (.0675.1). The cross section diameter of the crystal is 0.4 mm. Krotki Micromount Collection.
