Falcondo Mine, Bonao, La Vega Province, Dominican Republic

Width of field is 5.4 mm. Collection of Jesse Crawford. The depth of field has been enhanced using Helicon Focus (11 exposures). Equipment: Nikon D-100 digital camera on a homemade microscope. Yellowish green antigorite with light blue-green falcondoite.

This specimen consists of bluish mint-green mass of Falcondoite. This is a rare mineral from an exotic location - a signifgant piece. Specimen measures 4.39cm x 3.75cm x 1.14cm.

Falcondoite and willemseite are rare nickel, magnesium silicates found in a serpentinized harzbergite massif or an obducted ophiolite at a plate collision of oceanic crust with continental crust. Loma Peguera, Bonao, Monseñor Nouel Province, Dominican Republic

7.0 x 3.8 x 0.8 cm. This attractive specimen is primarily composed of a solid mass of the rare mineral Falcondoite, a nickel-rich species. A subtle, microcrystalline druse of darker olive-colored material mixed in, is the Willemseite. Rarely seen material from the type locality.
