Light-grey octahedrons of Harkerite covered by beige alteration rims in skarn matrix. Associating minerals are: blue coarsegranular calcite, pinkish-brown low ferroan phlogopite, white to yellowish crusts of late formed hydromagnesite (on the upper edge of the sample). FOV is ~6x5 cm. Collected by Aleksei A. Konev in late 70th. Pavel M. Kartashov ...

Harkerite : Ca24Mg8Al2Si8(O,OH)32(BO3)8(CO3)8(H2O,Cl), Magnetite : Fe2+Fe3+2O4, Löllingite : FeAs2

Titovskoe B deposit, Tas-Khayakhtakh Range, Dogdo River Basin, Polar Yakutia, Saha Republic (Sakha Republic; Yakutia), Eastern-Siberian Region, Russia

Greyish sugar-like almost monomineral harkerite rock. It is impossible to distinguish harkerite rock from sakhaite one on the locality. Minor difference in mineral associations (for example this rock don't contain any ludwigite, but magnetite and lollingite grains are present) allow us to suspect, that this isn't sakhaite. Only IRS or microprobe ...

Kilchrist, Broadford, Isle of Skye, North West Highlands (Inverness-shire), Scotland, UK

White sections of the crystals of harkerite, a very complex Ca-Mg-Al silicate borate carbonate hydroxide "hydrate/chloride", one of two known natural silicate-borate-carbonate minerals (by recently found britvinite) and the only Ca-Mg-(Al)-Si-B-C-O mineral. The "white area" is 1.9 cm wide. Here, harkerite is associated with minor beige-coloured ...
