Hausmannite from N'Chwaning II Mine, Kuruman, Kalahari desert

This specimen shows parallel growths on a single axis, so typical of the finds from N'Chwanning. The tetrahedral crystals are brilliant with very well defined faces and edges, and a brilliant surface.

Parallel growth of pseudo-octahedral Hausmannite crystals, very sharp and with an extraordinary luster. The piece is accompanied by a handwritten label from Desmond Sacco, well known South African collector.

This specimen consists of at least three intergrown black hausmannite crystals with associated pale yellow thaumasite, deep red blades of gaudefroyite (most evident on the back of the specimen) and a small cluster of orange andradite crystals perched on top.
