A scuff in the middle of this photo reveals the true nature of this weathered crystal, revealing bright purple heterosite. The original material was likely a primary magmatic lithium phosphate mineral. Field of view 2.5cm.

A Heterosite/ Purpurite (likely 57: 43 (AMG above)) nodule with feldspar and Manganapatite(lower left). The latter has changed colour to light gray while cleaning the specimen in dilute HCl. Area 30x 50 mm, A. Österlöf collection.
