These laminated blades have a superb luster and jet-black color. On careful examination, you can see a resplendent radial growth on the faces of the blades. An excellent thumb of a rare mineral, and of good size for the species. 1.7 x 1.3 x .7 cm

2.4 x 1.9 x 1.2 cm. Hibonite is an ULTRA-RARE rare-earth oxide with cerium and titanium, among other more common elements. This highly lustrous, sharply hexagonal, dark gray crystal is from the Type Locality area in Madgascar - the Fort Dauphin Region. This is a very fine, large crystal for the species. Ex. Carl Davis Collection.
