Wentworth area, Hants Co., Nova Scotia, Canada 4.1 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm. A nodule of howlite, (Calcium Boro-silicate Hydroxide), from Nova Scotia, where the first specimens were described (it is named for its discoverer Henry How, a Nova Scotia geologist). Howlite is probably best known (unfortunately) for being dyed to very closely resemble turquoise, which often fools the unwary. However, here we ... |
