Specimen measures approximately 40mm long. Produced by the San Diego Mining Company, from the Moore era underground workings, October 2000.

A natural grayish greenish blue to purplish blue tourmaline crystal with tabular form, excellent clarity and modified basal pyramid termination; from the Tourmaline Queen mine in Pala, San Diego County, California, USA. Tourmaline Queen Mine (MS 6458; Tourmaline Queen No. 3), Tourmaline Queen Mountain (Pala; Queen), Pala District, San Diego Co., California, USA

5.2 x 4.3 x 4.2 cm. A superb indicolite specimen from this mine. Apparently they were found in the 1960s. This robust crystal has great color and with moderate backlighting only, it glows. With strong backlighting, it goes translucent. It is complete on the front. Weighs 184 grams. Ex. Pala International/William Larson Collection.

5.5 x 4.8 x 4.2 cm. A fine San Diego indicolite, which is rare in such size and condition anyhow, but the history here is so interesting. Note how the piece was passed from one major collector to another, through decades. John Sinkankas even sketched the piece on the inside cover. 4.7 x 4.2 x 2.9 cm. A classic blue indicolite, found probably prior to the 1960s when this mine was famous for such crystals. Nicely translucent with only minimal backlighting. In fact, it was material like this they were looking for when Larson and Swoboda went re-mining here in 1972 and hit the famous blue-cap pockets. Weighs 76 grams. Ex. ...
