This cabinet sized specimen is LOADED with joaquinite crystals! Well over 500 of them are generously sprinkled over this rock! There are also over a dozen well terminated neptunite crystals and even a couple of small 3-5 mm benitoite crystals. For reference the field of view of the photo is about 2.5 cm. The whole rock measures 11 cm across. |

For those who know what they are looking at, this piece should be appreciated...it is thought to host one of the largest known crystals of Joaquinite , to a hair over 3 mm in size! That sharp crystal sits front and center on the matrix for nice display. It is, really, an amazing piece (if admittedly esoteric) and I do not think such a specimen ... |
