Franklin Mine, Franklin, Franklin Mining District, Sussex Co., New Jersey, USA Modris Baum collection. FOV 1.1 x 1.2 mm. This smal xl is associated with zincite (photo #165499), pyrochroite (photo #165311) and (possibly) chlorophoenicite. It sits in a tight vug in ordinary granular zincite, franklinite, leucophoenicite ore. The color is lavender pink. Because of very reflective striations and chromatic aberration in my ... |

Franklin Mine, Franklin, Franklin Mining District, Sussex Co., New Jersey, USA Size ~ 8 x 7 x 4 cm. Via Paulsulich. This specimen looks as if may have been dipped in acid in a futile search for leucophonicite xls in the little cavities. |

Franklin Mine, Franklin, Franklin Mining District, Sussex Co., New Jersey, USA These Leucophoenicite crystals had a little bit of room to grow in a pocket of calcite. The rest of the vien is compact interlocked crystals sandwiched inbetween layers of andradite cutting normal Franklin mine ore. Field of view is 4cm by 4cm, the longest crystal prism is one cm. |

Franklin Mine, Franklin, Franklin Mining District, Sussex Co., New Jersey, USA An unusual twinned crystal of Leucophoenicite that C.Palache first described as a heart-shaped form. The crystal is 3mm wide and grew in a seam of Barite that cut normal Willemite/Franklinite ore. Note that this form bears no resemblance to the common long prismatic forms of Leucophoenicite. |
