Marmoraton Mine, Marmora Township, Hastings Co., Ontario, Canada Thin leaves of magnetite Specimen size: 25x42x27mm largest leaf: 10x9mm These are paper thin leaves of magnetite left after calcite was removed with HCL. It appears the magnetite penetrated cracks in the calcite leaving these thin leaves. They will crumble if touched. |

Marmoraton Mine, Marmora Township, Hastings Co., Ontario, Canada Single Magnetite Crystal Octahedron Size: 15x20x11mm Small nick out of one of the corners. I noticed a tiny tip of this octahedron in a much larger rock after bringing it home.
