Hermanov, Velké Meziříčí, Vysočina Region, Moravia (Mähren; Maehren), Czech Republic 4.3 x 3.8 x 3.8 cm. Anthophyllite is an amphibole mineral: (Mg, Fe)7Si8O22(OH)2, magnesium iron inosilicate hydroxide. It is a common component of some metamorphic and metasomatic rocks. In this specimen, the anthophyllite has been peeled back to show that it was wrapped around a complete lozenge of phlogopite (one of the rarer members of the mica ... |
