Demix-Varennes quarry, Saint-Amable sill, Varennes & St-Amable, Lajemmerais RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada Self collected by Modris Baum Sept 2000. FOV 2.2 x 1.6 cm. This is from a hydrothermalite with abundant varennesite. Other associated minerals included zakharovite, eudialyte group, yofortierite, sphalerite and natrolite. Some natrolite terminations can be seen poking up in the center of the makatite. Some of the makatite appears as sea-green ... |

Demix-Varennes quarry, Saint-Amable sill, Varennes & St-Amable, Lajemmerais RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada Size ~ 1.7 x 3 cm. Found Sept 2000. The faintly greenish radiating makatite was associated vith (relatively!) abundant varennesite. But on this specimen the orange/brown areas are zakharovite, not varennesite. The dark areas in the makatite are terminations of stubby natrolite xls. In other specimens from this find a few dark "sea green" blades ... |
