Sar-e-Sang District, Koksha Valley (Kokscha; Kokcha), Badakhshan (Badakshan; Badahsan) Province, Afghanistan

This is a remarkable Specimen of deep blue Aquamarin. This Specimen was found in 2008 near by a Lapis Lazuli Deposit in Sar-e-Sang. The exact mine where the Specimen was found is unknown.

This specimen consists of two large, striking, tabular Aquamarine crystals on a well-balanced matrix of Albite crystals. The Aquamarine crystals have glassy luster, gemmy clarity, and a wonderful decidedly blue color. Specimen measures 6.54cm x 5.09cm x 3.55cm.

Gur-Salak, Konar (Kunar; Konarh; Konarha; Nuristan) Province, Afghanistan

4.6 x 3.4 x 3.4 cm. This is not Gilgit material but an Afghani aquamarine, and a BIG, FAT and GEMMY one. It is finely terminated and complete all around, with some shallow conchoidal damage on one face only. VERY clear and gemmy, much more than the pic shows. This fine crystal weighs an impressive 71 grams.

A very aesthesic specimen with several gemmy, transparent, pale blue Aquamarine crystal with excellent hexagonal crystal form and flat terminations. White Albite has formed between the divergent crystals.

Single crystal of blue-green beryl (variety aquamarine) without matrix. The crystal is doubly-terminated, though the lower termination formed against another mineral. The upper termination shows complex faces along the edges. No damage. Overall size of mineral specimen: 32x14x9 mm. Size of individual crystals: 32 mm.

Laghman (Lagman; Nuristan) Province, Afghanistan

Single crystal of blue-green beryl (variety aquamarine) without matrix. The crystal is doubly-terminated. The bottom has a 5 mm layer of hollow, parallel tubes etched in from the termination. Much of the internal crystal is flawless. No damage. Overall size of mineral specimen: 37x19x10 mm. Size of individual crystals: 37 mm.

Single crystal of medium blue-green beryl (variety aquamarine) without matrix. The crystal has a simple, flat termination. Some edges have minute nicks (barely visible). Overall size of mineral specimen: 22x16x15 mm. Size of individual crystals: 22 mm.
