Tuperssuatsiat Bay, Tunugdliarfik Firth (Eriksfjord), Ilimaussaq complex, Narsaq, Kitaa (West Greenland) Province, Greenland

Black short-prismatic terminated crystals of aenigmatite (the larger is 3x2.5x1.5 cm) in nephelin-syenite matrix. Associated minerals are brownish eudialyte grains, grey sections of prismatic nepheline and white microcline. Specimen size is 7x5x3 cm. Collected by Igor V. Pekov in July of 1994. Pavel M. Large black laths of aenigmatite (some of them are up to 10 cm long) into nordmarkit-pegmatite from the northern slope of Ulyn Khuren Mt. Exactly this specimen wasn't investigated, but some crystals of this primary aenigmatite were decay into mixture of wilkinsonite, magnetite, ilmenite, two unidentified (new?) alkaline Fe-silicates and ...

Width of field is 5.4 mm. Collection of Jesse Crawford. The depth of field has been enhanced using Helicon Focus (9 exposures). Equipment: Nikon D-100 digital camera on a homemade microscope. Black aenigmatite with brown astrophyllite.
