Glageon Quarry (Le Cailloit Quarry), Avesnes sur Helpe, Nord, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France Unusually curved "trapezohedral" crystals of Pyrite, partly pseudomorphed to Limonite (ca. 3.0 x 2.5 x 2.0 cm). They were never found in the cracks or the cavities of the rock. The largest crystal measures 8mm. Glageon Quarry (Le Cailloit Quarry), Avesnes sur Helpe, Nord, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France Unusual pyrite crystal,formed by the combination of the octahedron (111) and tétrahexaèdre (113). The polyhedron formed has 32 faces. 24 faces in isosceles triangles and 08 faces equilateral triangles.The pyrite crystal is about 4mm between summits.Collected on the site years 1976/78.Photograph and collection jm.CLAUDE |
