Glageon Quarry (Le Cailloit Quarry), Avesnes sur Helpe, Nord, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France

Unusually curved "trapezohedral" crystals of Pyrite, partly pseudomorphed to Limonite (ca. 3.0 x 2.5 x 2.0 cm). From a very limited find in 1984 (ca. 20 specimens self-collected and never found again) in a limonitic area of the quarry. JFC specimen (#00514) and photograph.

Crystals with 24 faces (Tetrahexahedron: group m3m {120}) These crystals included in limestone are released partially with ClH. They were never found in the cracks or the cavities of the rock. Unusual pyrite crystal,formed by the combination of the octahedron (111) and tétrahexaèdre (113). The polyhedron formed has 32 faces. 24 faces in isosceles triangles and 08 faces equilateral triangles.The pyrite crystal is about 4mm between summits.Collected on the site years 1976/78.Photograph and collection jm.CLAUDE
