Quartz : SiO2

Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang Co., Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China

A chaotic "jumble" of doubly terminated quartz crystals, arranged every which way, forming a very aestic layout in spite of the confusion. At the junction of every two members is a hematite inclusion! 5.0 x 4.0 x 2.0 inches. Crystal-Odyssey specimen. gemcrystals@aol.com

Quartz : SiO2, Stannite : Cu2(Fe,Zn)SnS4, Chalcopyrite : CuFeS2, Boulangerite : Pb5Sb4S11

Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang Co., Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China

Speciemen size: 28mm*16mm*17mm. The main crystal is an dauphine law twin quartz and fiberous boulangerite could be seen on the foot of it. Beyond the small crystals of quartz, stannite was also occured on this speciemen (the dark parts). And the chalcopyrite, the yellow ones, are grown on the stannite.

Quartz : SiO2

Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang Co., Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China

A really gorgeous large plate of a relatively uncommon type of quartz specimen, featuring a profusion of sharp, pretty yellow crystals to 4 cm. Minor damage, here and there, but overall in good shape. This is actually not from the Cincinnati show, but something I held onto from the Tucson show. I saw only a few of these there, and bought one, ...

Straight out of the mineralogy textbooks, this wonderful quartz crystal point, with a bushel of platy, bright orange calcites attached to the termination. I believe the best of this important locality has yet to be discovered. 2 3/4 x 1 1/2 x 1.6 inches. Crystal-Odyssey specimen. gemcrystals@aol.com

Quartz : SiO2, Fluorite : CaF2

Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang Co., Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China

A pretty specimen of fluorite on quartz with colorless fluorite inclusions showing 'phantom' growth pattern.
Overall size: 3.8 x 1.8 x 1.2 cm.

6.5 x 4.8 x 3.0 cm. A striking and aesthetic quartz crystal from the Yaogangxian Mine of China. A complete all-around, water-clear, glassy quartz crystal has a superb, preferentially coated chlorite phantom, with the lower portion of the front of the quartz crystal also preferentially coated with chlorite. A beautiful surprise on the back features ...

Quartz : SiO2, Muscovite : KAl2[(OH)2|AlSi3O10], Chalcopyrite : CuFeS2, Stannite : Cu2(Fe,Zn)SnS4, Arsenopyrite : FeAsS - (Fe0.90Co0.10)AsS

Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang Co., Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China

A "pobble" of intergrown arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite, (with blue covellite coating,) stannite and clusters of muscovite sit on a parallel growth of flattened quartz crystals. Very good crystals of the sulphides with some nice colour contrast.

Quartz : SiO2, Calcite : CaCO3, Fluorite : CaF2

Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang Co., Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China

A floater crystal of double terminated quartz is partially coated with a sandy coloured calcite skin. On the top side panels are three groups of frosted blue white stepped fluorite - one of these has a slight dark grey sulphide inclusion (unidentified.)
