Ste Marie-aux-Mines (Markirch), Haut-Rhin, Alsace, France

5.5 x 4.9 x 3.4 cm. An extremely rare old French rammelsbergite, from this classic mining district. The specimen is very rich with microcrystals, and a few larger aggregates to 5mm. Ex. Martin Zinn, Eric Asselborn, and F. John Barlow Collections.

Gabe Gottes Mine (incl. Giftgrube), Ste Marie-aux-Mines (Markirch), Haut-Rhin, Alsace, France

Fine spherical aggregate with white Quartz and Ankerite.
This specimen was found on the dumps of the Tiefstollen adit in the Rauenthal valley in the late 1970's.
This adit was connected to the Gabe Gottes Mine and the specimen is most certainly from the - 40 meter level of the mine.

Rare Rammelsbergite crystal aggregates on a Quartz matrix from the Gabe Gottes mine. The specimen has been acid treatened to reveal the Rammelsbergite.
