Rasvumite : KFe2S3

Rasvumchorr Mt, Khibiny Massif, Kola Peninsula, Murmanskaja Oblast', Northern Region, Russia

This specimen features a sharp freestanding rasvumite [possibly djerfisherite, see http://www.mindat.org/mesg-7-75510.html] on matrix. I am told that , at 6-7mm, this freestanding rasvumite crystal is quite exceptional. 3.6 x 3.1 x 2.6 cm

Rasvumite : KFe2S3, Aegirine : NaFe3+[Si2O6]

Material'naya Adit, Yukspor Mt, Khibiny Massif, Kola Peninsula, Murmanskaja Oblast', Northern Region, Russia

This rasvumite crystal is partially altered, but colour and metallic lustre of fresh mineral is still well visible. Orange rust-like product is alkali-free iron sulphide close to pyrrhotite. Associating mineral is black aegirine-diopside. FOV is ~ 6x5 mm. Collected by Alexandr Samsonov in 1994 on dumps of Material'naya adit. Pavel M. Kartashov ...

Rasvumite : KFe2S3, Lamprophyllite : (Sr,K,Ba)2(Na,Ti,Mn2+,Fe3+)4Ti2[O|(O,OH,F)|Si2O7]2, Aegirine-augite : (Na,Ca)(Fe3+,Fe2+,Mg,Al)Si2O6, Aegirine : NaFe3+[Si2O6]

Material'naya Adit, Yukspor Mt, Khibiny Massif, Kola Peninsula, Murmanskaja Oblast', Northern Region, Russia

Large partially altered crystal of rasvumite. Usually they never exceed 1 cm size. Orange rust-like product is alkali-free iron sulphide close to pyrrhotite. Associated minerals are: lustrous orange plates ingrown into rasvumite - lamprophyllite, green prismatic - later almost pure aegirine, black prismatic - former aegirin-diopside. FOV is ~ ...
