Modris Baum collection. FOV 2.2 x 2.8 mm. The habit is somewhat similar to that shown in photo #162165. However per Pavel Kartashov and Laszlo Horvath all MSH rhabdophane-(Ce) is pseudomorphous. The precursor is not known.
This "water tank" sits on analcime with only a broken aegirine xl for support. It has not been analyzed. The child photo is ...

Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada

Self collected by Modris Baum Nov 2001. FOV 3.5 x 2.2 mm. Preliminary analysis at Laurentian University suggested brockite but more detailed chemistry performed by the Canadian Museum of Nature showed that it was still rhabdophane-(Ce). Note that per Pavel Kartashov and Laszlo Horvath all MSH rhabdophane-(Ce) is pseudomorphous.

Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada

FOV 2.4 x 2.8 mm. Modris B. coll.
Rhabdophane-(Ce) "xls" of this sort are always pseudomorphs at MSH.
The precursor remains unknown. The serandite is merely pink background.
Pavel Kartashov made several microprobes of PS from another find but was unable to detect any relict precursor material. From the morphology he speculates that the ...
