Konar (Kunar; Konarh; Konarha; Nuristan) Province, Afghanistan Rose Quartz, while common, is rarely found as crystals, most of which are found in Brazil. This rare specimen is from the small find made in 2002. No more of these spectacular Rose Quartz crystals from Afghanistan have been found since. This crystal is comprised of a crudely-formed Smoky Quartz crystal whose front face is covered with a thin layer ... |

Vama, Konar (Kunar; Konarh; Konarha; Nuristan) Province, Afghanistan One of three specimens I was able to obtain from a new find of rare rose quartz crystals in a twisting cluster of crystals. These were recently discovered and resemble Brazilian rose quartz crystals in many ways. No damage. Overall size of mineral specimen: 6x6x4 cm. Size of individual crystals: 2-8 mm. |

Darra-i-Pech (Darra-e-Pech) Pegmatite Field, Nangarhar (Ningarhar) Province, Afghanistan 5.0 x 3.5 x 2.8 cm. I remember seeing some of these specimens around 2006, and they certainly made an impact on me due to their amazing similarity to the classic and famous Rose Quartz specimens from Brazil. This specimen features a rarely seen and highly sought after "halo"-shaped growth of intense pink Rose Quartz crystals sitting atop a light ... |

Paroon Mine, Darra-i-Pech (Darra-e-Pech) Pegmatite Field, Nangarhar (Ningarhar) Province, Afghanistan 10.0 x 7.0 cm. A dark SMOKY QUARTZ xl with a cluster of rich pink ROSE QUARTZ xls covering the termination. The xls reach a size of 2 cm. While ROSE QUARTZ is a very common mineral, crystals such as these are rarely found, with perhaps only 3 or 4 locations worldwide. |

Minas Gerais, Southeast Region, Brazil This is a plate of rose quartz, completely crystallized with sparkly crystals on one side. There is also a pretty ridge of lighter-colored rose quartz crystals running right down the center of the specimen. The crystals are VERY lustrous, something that does not come out so well in the pics. 7.5 x 6 x 3.2 cm |
