Jegdalek (Jagdalek; Jagdalak; Jagdalik) Ruby Mine, Sorobi District, Kabol (Kabul) Province, Afghanistan

The pigeon’s blood color in corundum is called ruby. All other colors are sapphire. THIS piece has THE color! The deeply colored ruby, 1.5 cm across, is translucent and highly lustrous. The crystal, 360-degrees complete all around, is aesthetically perched on contrasting white marble. 2.1 x 1.4 x 1.3 cm

Jegdalek (Jagdalek; Jagdalak; Jagdalik) Ruby Mine, Sorobi District, Kabol (Kabul) Province, Afghanistan

Excellent miniature with a really good doubly terminated Ruby crystal, with an excellent development of faces and edges. Brilliance and a certain transparency are well outperformed by the intense, deep and uniform color. On matrix.

A bright pigeon-blood-red ruby crystal, 2.6 x 1.3 x 0.8 cm in size, excavated cleanly so that it rises majestically from contrasting matrix! Note the complete-all-around, freestanding termination. In person, when backlit, the crysatl practically glows and there is no mistaking what it is...A dramatic, colorful, and large crystal for a matrix ...

Jegdalek (Jagdalek; Jagdalak; Jagdalik) Ruby Mine, Sorobi District, Kabol (Kabul) Province, Afghanistan

7.6 x 6.7 x 4.0 cm. An impressive ruby specimen from the classic ruby mines here which date back even to Roman times. Large crystals in matrix are rare. Large good crystals in matrix are almost unheard of. This is a rare example of such a piece, with a dominating 3 x 3 x 1.2-cm crystal sticking straight up and completely exposed on either side. ...

Corundum (Var: Ruby) : Al2O3, Marble

Jegdalek (Jagdalek; Jagdalak; Jagdalik) Ruby Mine, Sorobi District, Kabol (Kabul) Province, Afghanistan

A stunning ruby specimen with sharp form showing none of the usual rounded nature we often see on Afghani rubies. It almost certainly grew freestanding into a pocket, whereas most others have to be excavated out of enclosing matrix of quartz or calcite. The crystals are translucent, though not bright and gemmy per se. The color is a very deep, ...

Corundum (Var: Ruby) : Al2O3

Jegdalek (Jagdalek; Jagdalak; Jagdalik) Ruby Mine, Sorobi District, Kabol (Kabul) Province, Afghanistan

This is a superb, unusually sharp ruby crystal of a size we rarely see in good form, much less being on matrix. The piece is 2.5 inches tall overall and 2 inches wide. the ruby is blood red! there is a single crystal and a heartshaped twin! the twin is about 1.25 inches! this is majestic, and incredible for a specimen ruby at a mortal price range. ...
