Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada

The rosette is about 8 mm wide. Found July 1995.
From the front this looks like catapleiite - except that it is gray and opaque. From the side and back it is clear that this is an aggregate of typical little "kettle drums". (The xl in the center is the only one with its "bottom" visible.)
Despite the opacity, weak REE absorption can be ...

Donnayite Group

Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada

FOV 0.7 x 0.6 mm. Modris B. coll.
Another mckelveyite-(Y) "wannabe" that is probably donnayite-(Y).
It is very tiny. were it to be analyzed there would be nothing left!
But it is very gemmy and attactive under the scope. (Not so much in the photo :)

Donnayite Group

Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada

FOV 2.9 x 2.2 mm. Modris B. coll.
I want this to be mckelveyite-(Y). The guy who sold it to me wants it to be mckelveyite-(Y). But a little voice tells me that it is probably donnayite-(Y). You can't analyze everything so "donnayite group" it is.

Multiple photos availableDonnayite Group, Analcime : Na2[Al2Si4O12] · 2H2O, Quartz (Var: Smoky Quartz) : SiO2

Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada

The yellow/orange donnayite is ~ 4 mm. Found 1998.
Not analyzed, hence "donnayite/welloganite group". (Color is not a reliable guide at MSH.) The quartz(bottom center) is partially etched.
Sept 2009: Updated with a macro view of the specimen showing that the matrix is an analcime encrusted PS. The photo works best in stereo. Also added a stereo ...

FOV 3.6 x 2.4. Collected by Modris B. May 1996. This could be ewaldite with donnayite-(Y) but it could be anything (or everything) in the donnayite-weloganite series. Not analyzed.

Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada

FOV ~ 22 mm wide. Found June 1997.
This is a "macro micro" - the xls are micro but there are very many. To show what the specimen looks like I used macro.
The blueish gray donnayites look like little telescopes. They have not been analyzed - hence "group". As is quite typical, small pyrite cubes sprinkle the donnayite and there is a ...
