Schaurteite : Ca3Ge[(OH)6|(SO4)2] · 4H2O

Tsumeb Mine (Tsumcorp Mine), Tsumeb, Otjikoto (Oshikoto) Region, Namibia

White silky bundles of acicular crystals of Schaurteite with reddish-brown zinican Siderite. Field of view 7 mm—a section of a small cabinet sized example. The Schaurteite forms a seam, up to about 5 mm thick on one surface of a chunk of the Germanite/Renierite ore. The identity of Schuarteite and zincian Siderite was confirmed by microprobe ...

Schaurteite : Ca3Ge[(OH)6|(SO4)2] · 4H2O

Tsumeb Mine (Tsumcorp Mine), Tsumeb, Otjikoto (Oshikoto) Region, Namibia

Picture width is 4mm. Typical white fibrous crystals of the rare Schaurteite (TL). Specimen has typical Matrix of Germanite/Tennantite. The pale brown crystals are most possibly Calcite or Siderite. Depth of field is achieved with CombineZM.

Bright white silky hair-like crystals of this rare Germanium Sulphate are intergrown to form a crystalline aggregate measuring 9 by 10mm. The Schaurteite is intergrown with white Calcite (probably) and is within a Germanium-rich ore probably containing Tennantite and Germanite.

Bright white silky hair-like crystals of this rare Germanium Sulphate forming distinctive intergrown crystalline aggregates (5 x 10mm). The Schaurteite forms adjacent to a large lustrous white crystal (15 x 25mm) of probably Calcite in a Germanium-rich ore containing Tennantite and possible Germanite.
