	Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada FOV ~ 1.8 cm wide. The pale greenish/yellowish prisms are shomiokite-(Y). (Some have developed a white coating.) The blocky grayish/glassy xls at bottom and right are gaidonnayite. The pinkish/tan rhombs are rhodochrosite (or siderite). Udated Oct 2009 with a macro view.

This specimen is from the same find and has terminations similar to those on a self collected specimen confirmed at Laurentian Univeristy. This photo uses a combination of multi focus and cut and paste.

Ex Jean-Pierre Beckerich The shomiokite-(y) is well terminated and has a habit similar to http://www.mindat.org/photo-187861.html. But the xls are more or less covered by a grainy pale gray "mud". The tips of most xls are free of this coating and show that the xls are essentially colorless. The "mud" is unfortunate ...

Terminated xls of shomiokite-(Y) are very rare at MSH. Acicular adamsite-(Y) is often associated and there may be some on this specimen (especially on the back).
