Kangjiawan Pb-Zn-Ag-Au deposit, Shuikoushan ore field, Changning Co., Hengyang Prefecture, Hunan Province, China 7.0 x 3.7 x 2.5 cm. BEAUTIFULLY GEMMY, twinned and un-twinned, red sphalerite crystals are very aesthetically set on this quartz crystal-covered plate from China. The central, 2.4 cm crystal is superb, complete all-around and is very well placed. The entire piece is pristine, except for a small contact on the lower front of the large sphalerite ... |

Kangjiawan Pb-Zn-Ag-Au deposit, Shuikoushan ore field, Changning Co., Hengyang Prefecture, Hunan Province, China The crystal has excellent color and transparency and clearly shows the formation of the Spinel twin, which is defined by the numerous entrant angles. Its centered position on the matrix of Quartz crystals, with darker zones of Galena, is especially esthetic. Kangjianwan Mine, Shuikoushan, Hunan China Found in 2004 Specimen size: 7.5 x ... |

Kangjiawan Pb-Zn-Ag-Au deposit, Shuikoushan ore field, Changning Co., Hengyang Prefecture, Hunan Province, China 7.2 x 4.6 x 3.2 cm. These Chinese sphalerites are certainly some of the most impressive ever found for the species, due to their size, luster and gemminess. The coffee-colored crystals here measure to 2 cm across, with gemmy coffee color and glassy luster. They sit beautifully on a bed of quartz. |

Kangjiawan Pb-Zn-Ag-Au deposit, Shuikoushan ore field, Changning Co., Hengyang Prefecture, Hunan Province, China 5.7 x 4.2 x 3.7 cm. Intergrown, lustrous and translucent, orange colored crystals of sphalerite have formed rosettes, reaching 2.75 cm across. Both the luster and color are superb. Ex. Carnegie Museum Collection. |

Kangjiawan Pb-Zn-Ag-Au deposit, Shuikoushan ore field, Changning Co., Hengyang Prefecture, Hunan Province, China 4.2 x 3.1 x 2.5 cm. Under good light you can see that this huge sphalerite crystal is actually a gemmy wine-red! It measures 2 centimeters; it has a smaller crystal growing next to it, and is backed by bladed calcite crystals, with small crystals beneath it. These Shuikoushan sphalerites are very significant for the species! |
