Multiple photos availableStrontiopyrochlore : (Sr,Ce,Ca)2-x(Nb,Fe)2(O,OH)7, Albite : Na[AlSi3O8]

Vavnbed Mt, Lovozero Massif, Kola Peninsula, Murmanskaja Oblast', Northern Region, Russia

1 mm size flattened octahedrons of strontiopyrochlore in cavity within albite. Such morphology is very typical for primary strontiopyrochlore of the locality. It contain 20-25 % SrO. Selfcollected in July 1994. Pavel M. Kartashov collection and photo.

Pseudomorphose after the twin of unknown mineral (loparite?) composed by creamy-white strontiopyrochlore and covered with brownish manganese oxide film. All such pseudomorphoses of the locality are the same size - this is 8x9x9 mm and 0.8616 g. All such pseudomorphoses are always without any matrix (sometimes intergrowths of PS occur). Zircon ...

Another pseudomorphose of such type. Size 8x8.5x9 mm, weight 0.9600 g. Apparently strontiopyrochlore agregate into the PS is more compact. View from edge "pyramidal" side. Zircon point at the NE exocontact zone of the massif. Pavel M. Kartashov collection and photo
