Esterhazy Potash Mines, Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, Canada Here are two samples of clear Sylvite with red Halite acquired from the Esterhazy Potash Mine in Saskatchewan. The Two pieces were one but fractured. The samples are between 2.8 cm long and 5.1 cm, they are around 4.1 cm wide, and about 2.9 cm thick. From M. Adamowicz collection. |

Stassfurt Potash deposit, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany Crystals of this potassium chloride are not often found, period. On top of that, rarely do you find Sylvite in a form other than cubes or octahedrons, so this very sharp clear tabular crystal is truly a gem in its own right aside from being gemmy per se. It is sharper and even more lustrous in person. COMPLETE ALL AROUND 2.9 x 2.2 x .8 cm |

Verkhnekamskoe K deposit, Solikamsk, Kama river, Permskaya Oblast', Middle Urals, Urals Region, Russia Milk-white quadrangular sections of sylvite crystals in granular brownish-grey halite matrix. Blue grains also are halite. Red spots are minor carnallite. This is typical structure of sylvinite from the locality. Specimen size is 8x5x1.5 cm. Collected by my wife - Julia V. Verkhnekamskoe K deposit, Solikamsk, Kama river, Permskaya Oblast', Middle Urals, Urals Region, Russia Red layers in the specimen consist of transparent sylvite crystals inclusions into opaque red carnallite matrix. Associating mineral is grey granular halite in interstratificating layers. Blue grains also are halite. Specimen size is 7.5x5x1.5 cm. Collected by my wife - Julia V.
