Talc : Mg3Si4O10(OH)2

Red Hill, Heathcote, Victoria, Australia

Talc pseudomorphs after orthopyroxene. This cumulate igneous rock would have had a boninitic composition and probably is the intrusive equivalent of the local Sheoak Gully Boninite. It is almost entirely altered to talc. Found as a clast in the Heathcote Fault Zone. Hand lens is 5cm long.
