Travertine-Onyx. Found July 29,2009. This specimen weighs in at just under 3 ozs and is 5.5 x 5 in. This was not the only specimen found. The total for the day was 27.6 lbs.

Sanpete Co., Utah, USA

Sample of regional travertine exhibiting banding which practically imitates wood grain. Specimen is a block approximately 5.2 cm X 5.2 cm X 4.2 cm cut from rough rock and dipped in a quick bath of muratic acid. No other polishing has been done.
