Kamoto East Open cut, Kamoto, Kolwezi, Western area, Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaïre) This is, to my knowledge, the best " manageable " specimen of Astrocyanite associated with yellow Kamotoite from the Type Locality. The mineral is extremely rare in good specimens. Collection and photo, Paul De Bondt. |

Kamoto East Open cut, Kamoto, Kolwezi, Western area, Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaïre) 5.3 x 3.8 x 3.5 cm. From the TYPE LOCALITY for both species, this is a superb specimen with eye-visible flat-laying kamotoite-(Y) crystals to 5mm or so, amidst other species including ultra-rare Astrocyanite-(Ce) (blue) with bubbly Uranophane around the periphery. |
