Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada

The xl is about 1.8 x 1.5 cm and about 2.5 mm thick.
By the MSH astrophyllite/kupletskite rules of thumb given by Paula Piilonen (CMMA Newsletter Mar/Apr 2004) I would expect this to be kupletskite, with the lighter rims being niobokupletskite. But this is ex Ron Waddell who has a note saying that Dr. George Chao identified both as ...

Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada

Self collected by Modris Baum. FOV 7.1 x 4.7 mm. This is from another part of the specimen in photo #168179. Differences in lighting exaggerate the real differences in color. This is a well terminated xl. Not analyzed but most likely astrophyllite by the "rules of thumb" for MSH developed by Paula Piilonen (CMN).

The white prisms are probably ordinary nenadkevichite. (A sample was sent for analysis but I never got any results.)

Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada

Astrophyllite "sunburst" is ~ 3.4 cm top to bottom. Not analyzed. But by the "rules of thumb" for MSH (only!) developed by Paula Piilonen (Canadian Museum of Nature) this is very likely astrophyllite.
Much more interesting in stereo (child photo).
Updated Sept 2009 using stacking and added stereo pair.
