Amphibole Group (Var: Uralite)

Alexandria Bay, Jefferson Co., New York, USA

Long dark green blocky uralite crystals (hornblende altered from pyroxene) to 3 cm long in quartz matrix. There is a single white calcite (?) nestled in between the uralites on one side. Collected many years ago by a well known field collector. Ex. Floyd Faux. Overall size of mineral specimen: 10x8x6 cm. Size of individual crystals: 1-3 cm.
