Brilliant blue-green aurichalcite crystals richly covering matrix. Under magnification can be seen rosettes up to 1 mm diameter of acicular crystals. Overall size of mineral specimen: 5x3x2 cm. Size of individual crystals: .5 mm.

Aurichalcite : (Zn,Cu)5[(OH)3|CO3]2, Fluorite : CaF2

Blanchard Mine (Portalas-Blanchard Mine), Bingham, Hansonburg District, Socorro Co., New Mexico, USA

This 5 x 3 1/2 inch piece of matrix hosts a small patch of "hairs" of aurichalcite and many small pale cubes of fluorite sprinkled on the top of the matrix. Self-collected in 1961 by Charles Creekmur.
