Hedrum Quarry, Lågendalen, Hedrum, Larvik, Vestfold, Norway

Brownish wickmanite on natrolite. Wickmanite is one of the rarest minerals found in the larvikite-area. Field of view about 1,2 mm. The specimen was collected by and is now in the micromount collection of OT. Ljostad.

Wickmanite : Mn2+[Sn(OH)6], Chiavennite : CaMnBe2Si5O13(OH)2·2H2O

Vevja (Bakken) quarry, Tvedalen, Larvik, Vestfold, Norway

A 0,1 mm distorted "cube" (tetragonal "pseudocubic"?) - which may be Tetrawickmanite - on top of a 0,2 mm cuboctahedral crystal of Wickmanite with bladed crystals of Chiavennite on large crystals of Helvite from the Vevja quarry, Tvedalen in the Langesundsfjord area. Wickmanite : Mn2+[Sn(OH)6], Tetrawickmanite : Mn2+[Sn4+(OH)6]

Foote Lithium Co. Mine (Foote Mine), Kings Mountain District, Cleveland Co., North Carolina, USA

.8 mm light yellow wickmanite crystal with epitaxial, tabular tetrawickmanite crystal attached on albite. Associated with rhodochrosite and fluorapatite. Obvious wickmanite from Foote like this is extremely rare but the mineral is probably more common than realized. JBS collection and photo.
