Saint-Amable sill, Varennes & St-Amable, Lajemmerais RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada FOV ~ 3 cm wide. Found June 1996. Accessory minerals include pink "eudialyte" (bottom right), pale pink serandite (top center - seen almost "head on") and very dark red manganoneptunite (e.g. far left center). These are all very small compared to the yofortierite. The yellowish masses are probably powdery/caked smectite (group) with embedded ... |

The eudialyte group (most likely plain eudialyte) is "shocking" pink. The little plates are microcline. The analcime is the poorly formed blob on the left. Sept 2009: Updated using stacking and with better color fidelity. Also added a couple of stereo views and a broader ... |

Demix-Varennes quarry, Saint-Amable sill, Varennes & St-Amable, Lajemmerais RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada FOV ~ 3 cm wide. Found June 1996. Yofortierite is relatively common at STA. It comes in various shades of brown and, according to Horvath et al, it has a highly variable composition. Tuperssuatsiaite and a greenish “UK” are also found here but both are very rare. Raite has not been found. Hence specimens such as this one are almost certainly ... |

Demix-Varennes quarry, Saint-Amable sill, Varennes & St-Amable, Lajemmerais RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada FOV 1.1 x ¾ cm. Collected by Modris B. June 1996. This “bronzy” spray is from perhaps the largest and best find of yofortierite I ever made. MSH is the type locality but, in general, the yofortierite at STA is bigger and better, This is a single focus film shot. Three stereo child photos. |
