Case beryl prospects (Case quarries), Portland, Middlesex Co., Connecticut, USA

A nice specimen of bismuth minerals as a thin coating on feldspar. The area of interest measures about 35mm across. Yellow bismite and green bismutite are present. Some minor bismuthinite is also visible under magnification. The area around the bismuth minerals has been stained brown by iron. Self collected 2008. Overall specimen size 5X5X4cm. ...

Green bismite on an unidentified yellow mineral.

Collected by Robert Otto, a mining engineer in Salt Lake City, Utah. His collection was sold to David Shannon Minerals. I acquired it from Phil Richardson who acquired it from David Shannon Minerals.
