Wilberforce, Monmouth Township, Haliburton Co., Ontario, Canada Doubly-terminated, elongated, black fluororichterite crystal. One termination is more complex than the other. Undamaged. Wilberforce, Monmouth Township, Haliburton Co., Ontario, Canada 11.8 x 6.8 x 4.7 cm. Nestled in a matrix of ivory colored feldspar, probably nepheline, are several crystals of fluororichterite, the largest of which is doubly terminated, black with good luster, and measures 5.2 cm in length. Fluororichterite is a sodium calcium, magnesium, silicate, fluoride. |

Wilberforce, Monmouth Township, Haliburton Co., Ontario, Canada Just a darned fine example of this rock-forming mineral, with good lustre, good sharp termination, and good form. You almost never see these occur so beautifully-crystallized and so the mineral is often dismissed as non-worthy of a fine collection. The cluster is also a floater. 4.4 x 3.1 x 1.2 cm |
