Brochantite : Cu4[(OH)6|SO4]

Tsumeb Mine (Tsumcorp Mine), Tsumeb, Otjikoto (Oshikoto) Region, Namibia

Translucent green brochantite (arsentsumebite?) crystals up to 12 mm long in sprays and scattered crystals on white rhombic calcite crystals. The brochantite crystals are stunningly beautiful under magnification. Purchased from a miner's widow in 1961. Overall size of mineral specimen: 7x5x4 cm. Size of individual crystals: 2-12 mm.
