Santa Eulalia District, Mun. de Aquiles Serdán, Chihuahua, Mexico Superb specimen of two generations of calcite, both twinned. The first generation are 6 cm chocolate-brown, twinned crystals. Overgrown, and epitaxially oriented, is translucent yellow calcite twinned along exactly the same twin plane - VERY RARE. Overall size of mineral specimen: 8x7x6 cm. Size of individual crystals: 6 cm. Mindat.org Photo of the Day - 20th Jun 2007 |

Santa Eulalia District, Mun. de Aquiles Serdán, Chihuahua, Mexico Twinned crystals of rhombic calcite. The crystals are a pale pink color with thin surface coating of matte, white quartz. Complete on all sides, no damage. Overall size of mineral specimen: 6x4x3 cm. Size of individual crystals: 3-4.5 cm. |

Santa Eulalia District, Mun. de Aquiles Serdán, Chihuahua, Mexico A recent discovery of these amazing included calcite scalenohedral crystal groups on matrix. The inclusions are so prominent that I would actually rather define them as hematite coated calcites, encapsulated in secondary jackets of calcite: one can see the inner crystals emerging from within the calcite layer. A stunning large cabinet size ... |

Santa Eulalia District, Mun. de Aquiles Serdán, Chihuahua, Mexico Looking very much like cactus growth, this ELEGANT calcite specimen features translucent, hematite included crystals to 7 cm in length. In addition, the piece exhibits chocolate brown color and the high luster that make the find unique. Old material, from the late 1980s - I remember as i owned one when i was a kid and they were coming out. 11 x ... |

Santa Eulalia District, Mun. de Aquiles Serdán, Chihuahua, Mexico 21.9 x 16.8 x 6.5 cm. From out of the collection of Ed David - a huge plate of spectacular calcite crystals that have been richly included by red hematite - not coated, so that they retain their shiny luster, but have this rich red color to them! The crystal forms are various distortions of the rhombohedron. The matrix has a layer of sparkly ... |

Santa Eulalia District, Mun. de Aquiles Serdán, Chihuahua, Mexico Interesting specimen formed by groups of fan-shaped colorless and very bright Hemimorphite crystals, with very sharp edges and faces. Some of them have intergrown with a generation of snowy white and defined rhombohedral Calcite crystals. Some Hemimorphite crystals are imbedded in Calcite crystals and others are showing terminal ... |

Santa Eulalia District, Mun. de Aquiles Serdán, Chihuahua, Mexico 8.6 x 5.4 x 5.1 cm. These bizarre calcites were found over 50 years ago in Santa Eulalia; this one came out of an old collection. They are very distinctive, most of them with one crystal having grown around and engulfed another, as in this case. The "inner" crystal was coated with dark hematite before the "outer" one encased it, which fortunately ... |

Santa Eulalia District, Mun. de Aquiles Serdán, Chihuahua, Mexico 21.3 x 17.4 x 8.2 cm. A BIG plate of razor-sharp crystals of tan-colored calcite, with red internal phantoms, from Mexico. Crystals measure to 3 cm. This is from a new find at a reworked old locality which produced these classic calcites last 30 years ago. |

Santa Eulalia District, Mun. de Aquiles Serdán, Chihuahua, Mexico 5.9 x 5.0 x 4.1 cm. These bizarre Santa Eulalia calcites are distinguished by multi-generational growth where the first crystals were coated by dark iron oxide, and then a second generation of growth occurred with pale calcite. The result is that the specimens look as though you have one crystal emerging out of another! |
